Emergency Evacuation Plans

(All Parents will know and have a copy of these plans in advance and evacuation plans will be practiced monthly)

Tornado

In the case of a Tornado, we will have the children stop what they are doing immediately. We (the owners and teachers) will grab the emergency prepared kit (grab and go kit). We will then instruct the children to go to the northeast corner of the classroom. They will be instructed to stay calm and one teacher will do a headcount. Then one of the teachers will demonstrate the proper way to protect themselves from a tornado while the other assists the children in getting in the safety position. We will maintain our position until the tornado sirens have subsided and all is clear.

Fire

In the case of a Fire we will instruct the children to stop what they are doing and instruct them to safely and calmly walk to the (Primary or Secondary Exit, depending on where the fire is at). One teacher will lead the children up the stairs to the garage, exiting out of the side door and to the southwest corner of the yard by the fence OR  directly through the primary door and out to the southwest corner of the yard, by the fence. The other teacher will grab the emergency prepared kit ( grab and go kit) and emergency contact info and will make sure all the kids are out before going to the EXIT and out to the yard by the fence. Once outside we will do a headcount to make sure all children are out and that they are safe. One teacher will call 911, while the other teacher sends a group text to the parents telling them we had to evacuate and let them know we will tell them about what happened when they get there.

Serious Injury

In the event that a child is seriously injured the first teacher will assess the scene and stay with the child and tend to them while the other teacher will call 911 and maintain the safety of the other children in care. Once the emergency professionals have arrived one teacher will call the parent while the other teacher will maintain the safety of the other children.

Missing Person

In the event that a child is missing one teacher will watch the other children while the second teacher will immediately call 911 and let them know what happened. The next phone call that teacher will make will be to the parents letting them know what has happened and that the authorities have been notified.

Unidentified & Dangerous Stranger

In the event that there is a dangerous suspect outside the daycare, the doors will already be locked, one teacher will take the children to the northeast corner of the classroom, away from the windows and door while the other teacher calls 911. We will wait there until the authorities have arrived.

Gas

In the case of a Gas leak we will instruct the kids to stop what they are doing and instruct them to slowly walk and meet as at the Primary Exit. One teacher will guide the kids out the door and to the south side of the yard, by the gate. The first teacher will do a headcount while the second teacher will grab the emergency prepared kit(grab and go kit) and emergency contact info. The second teacher will then call 911. Once we are all outside the teachers we will do a second head count. Once we are there we will do another headcount and then one of the teachers will send a group text to the parents telling them we had to evacuate, (If we had to relocate we will send the address of where to meet us and let them know we will tell them about what happened when they get there.)

Relocation Site

If we need to take the children any further we will go to the relocation site.

The Parents will know about the relocation site ahead of time.

Owners parents house - (4 min. away) 6003 Edith Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66104

Transportation plans

If we are no longer safe at the daycare/home and we need to leave the premises we will load the children up in our SUV’s and take them to the relocation site.
